However, the command disclosed that after an investigation, it was established that Priscilla had died in a tragic motor accident. In a statement on the case, the spokesperson for the command, SP Josephine Adeh, said the FCT Police Command’s attention was drawn to social media reports alleging that Miss Priscilla Ocheme had been murdered by her boyfriend, Elvis, also known as Richard, at his residence in the Lugbe area of Abuja.

“The suspect was invited for questioning by operatives of the FCT Police on September 24, 2024. Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect, Elvis, a 30-year-old man from Oredo-Benin in Edo State, had met the late Priscilla at Madonna University. They lost contact after he left the university, but reconnected in 2019 when he came to the FCT for his National Youth Service,” the report stated.

Elvis was a close family friend who regularly visited Priscilla at her family home, and she also visited his family. According to the report, on September 22, 2024, Priscilla had a minor disagreement with her mother, which prompted her to leave her family home in the Karu area and stay at Elvis’s residence to cool off.

The report further revealed that Priscilla left Elvis’ residence later that evening. On her way home, she was involved in a fatal motorcycle accident at the Amala Moore junction in Pyakasa.

Two labourers, Jerry Amos and Moses Bala, working nearby at a brick-making factory, witnessed the accident. The FCT Police Command stated: “They rushed her to Pyakasa Health Centre for medical attention. She was later referred to the Federal Medical Centre, Jabi, accompanied by two police detectives. Upon arrival at the medical centre, she was pronounced dead by the doctor on duty.”

The police command reaffirmed its commitment to professionalism and integrity in its investigative processes, stating that it would not engage in unethical practices or actions that could undermine public trust.

“Safety and justice for victims remain our top priority, and we are committed to ensuring a thorough and fair investigation,” the statement read. The police called for public understanding as they worked to provide further clarity on the case and promised to give updates as the investigation progressed.
