Nasarawa police arrest suspected kidnapper, recover N547,000 ransom
The Nasarawa State Police Command has arrested a suspected notorious kidnapper and recovered a sum of N547,000, part of a ransom collected in a recent kidnapping operation.
The State Commissioner of Police, Nadada Umar, attributed the arrest to the command’s relentless efforts in combating criminal activities in the state.
In a statement issued by the command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP RanhamNansel, in Lafia, Nadada revealed that police operatives attached to 38 PMF Akwanga, in collaboration with the NasarawaEggon division, arrested one AbdulkarimZakari of Konba village, Wamba Local Council, Nasarawa State, in connection with an ongoing kidnapping investigation.
“Upon interrogation, he confessed to being part of the syndicate that kidnapped Ciroman Fulani at Arugbadu, where they collected a ransom of N5,000,000, and he received a share of N1,200,000,” he said.
Nadada has ordered a manhunt for the other fleeing members of the syndicate and commended the officers for their continued efforts against criminal elements in the state.
