FG to restore power supply to North in 72 hours, says Minister
Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, has assured full restoration of power supply to 17 Northern states by next Sunday when the second line of the Makudi-Bauchi route is completed.
The Minister said the ongoing engineering work on the vandalized facility has resulted in partial power supply in the North and maintained that the Shiroro-Mando plant where the major sabotage occurred will be fixed in 14 days.
The vandalization of the critical infrastructure that supplies power to 17 North States has crippled business activities in the region after two weeks of total outage.
Adelabu gave the assurance during a working visit to Kano on Thursday.
He said President Bola Tinubu does not intend to discriminate against any region.
Determined to prevent the recurrence of outright power supply to the region, the Minister of Power emphasized readiness to partner with state governments to establish alternative power generation and supply.
He urged the Northern governments to invest in solar generation, desert wind, and other alternative sources of generation and distribution of power while pledging the Federal Government’s support.
The Minister called for collaboration among states to address security challenges, especially the constant energy theft and vandalization of power installation.
