Farmers pledge to support Aiyedatiwa in Ondo poll

Governor Aiyedatiwa acknowledged the crowd during one of his campaign program

The chances of Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa in this November gubernatorial election got brighter at the weekend when members of Oil Palm Licencees Association in the southern senatorial district of the state declared their unflinching support for his ambition.

Members of the association in a communique by the Chairman, Dayo Akinmola and Secretary, Ogbemerun Adeyemi, at the end of their meeting in Okitipupa, vowed to mobilise all their workers and deploy everything within their disposal to support Aiyedatiwa who they said needs the victory to continue some impactful policies newly introduced.

They commended his administration’s agricultural policies which has made farming safer and more productive.

The association made particular reference to the recently established Ondo State Forest Hunters, whose personnel are stationed across all the forests in the state to complement the activities of the state command of the Western Nigeria Security Network, (Amotekun) deployed to checkmate kidnapping and other related crimes often perpetrated in the forest.

The oil palm farmers lauded the governor for his administration’s support for the Okitipupa Oil Palm Plc, which, according to them, “has not only been fully revived and repositioned but is today responsible for the employment of several thousands of people from within and outside the state.”

The group expressed confidence that the governor would continue with his pro-agriculture policies, especially measures that could further boost the revitalisation of the oil palm sub-sector in the state as a major employer of labour and a major revenue earner for the state.
