Sanwo-Olu mourns Onigbongbo LCDA Chairman Oladotun Olakanle
Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has extended his condolences to the family, friends, associates, and community of Onigbongbo following the passing of the Onigbongbo Local Council Development Area (LCDA) Chairman, Oladotun Olakanle.
The late Olakanle, widely known as Tant’olorun, died on Saturday at 54 after a brief illness. His last public appearance was on Thursday at the burial ceremony of an All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain.
In a condolence message through his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr Gboyega Akosile, Governor Sanwo-Olu expressed deep sorrow over Olakanle’s death, describing it as a substantial loss to Onigbongbo LCDA, the APC, and Lagos State.
“On behalf of my family, the people, and the government of Lagos State, I extend my heartfelt condolences to the residents of Onigbongbo LCDA on the passing of their Chairman, Oladotun Olakanle,”
Sanwo-Olu said. “His death is a personal loss to me and a painful loss to Lagos State. He was a loyal party man and committed democrat who understood local government administration and the political landscape.”
Sanwo-Olu praised Olakanle as a devoted APC politician and an invaluable asset whose contributions would be deeply missed by the Onigbongbo community and beyond. He commended Olakanle’s dedication to the council’s progress, noting his achievements during his four-year tenure.
“Olakanle leaves behind a lasting legacy,” he added. “I pray for God to grant his soul eternal rest and comfort his family and the people of Onigbongbo LCDA.”
