An adult male lost his life yesterday, with others sustaining injuries, in a multi-vehicle collision at Ile-Epo, OkoAfa, along the Lagos-Badagry Expressway.

The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) reported receiving a distress call via the 767/112 toll-free lines at 9:33 a.m., prompting its Emergency Response Team (ERT) from the Igando base to respond.

According to LASEMA’s Permanent Secretary, Dr Olufemi Damilola Oke-Osanyintolu, the agency’s Dolphin Response Team discovered on arrival that a fully-laden DAF truck, registration number FFF 754 XB, had collided with three other vehicles: a white Toyota Hummer bus owned by Cross Country Transport, registration number MUS 210 YJ, a Volkswagen commercial bus, registration number LSR 166 YE, and a Nissan car, registration number unknown.

Preliminary investigations at the scene revealed that the crash was caused by reckless driving by the truck driver, who lost control due to excessive speed and crashed into the three vehicles.

LASEMA activated safety measures to protect responders, while traffic control was enforced to manage the flow along the carriageway.

The three vehicles involved were towed to Morogbo Police Station, while the truck was moved to a lay-by to allow traffic to resume smoothly along the route.

The deceased’s body was transported to the morgue by the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) before LASEMA’s arrival.
