Justice S.A. Amobeda of the Federal High Court, Kano, has issued an interim order restraining Dr. Uche Odionyenma from identifying himself as the president of the Association of Medical Laboratory Scientists of Nigeria (AMLSN).
The ruling followed an ex parte motion filed by a group of applicants led by Comrade Shehu Musa Adamu and argued by their counsel. The suit, marked FHC/KN/CS/413/2024, was filed by a coalition of 12 applicants who include notable members of Nigeria’s medical laboratory community.
Their primary claim is that Dr Odionyenma is improperly asserting himself as the association’s president, a move they argued requires urgent judicial intervention.
Justice Amobeda, after reviewing the evidence and affidavits presented by the applicants, found sufficient grounds to issue an order barring Dr Odionyenma from assuming the role pending the hearing and resolution of the substantive motion.
The court ordered that Dr Odionyenma be served the court’s order and related legal documents outside the Kano jurisdiction, setting a strict five-day timeline for him to respond to the charges.
The judge granted an accelerated hearing to expedite the resolution of the matter, adjourning the case to November 13, 2024, when it will resume for further proceedings.
