Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf finally broke the silence over the perceived crisis in the New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP) in Kano and the alleged grudge between him and his godfather Dr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.

Yusuf who stated that there is no iota of truth in the stories already gaining momentum in the political space, insisted no amount of politically motivated aspersion would break his relationship with the leader of the Kwankwasiyya movement.

The Governor described the rumours as the height of insult on his personality, especially a supposed new group allegedly formed by him called “Abba Tsaya da Kafar Ka”.

Speaking on a live radio broadcast  Wednesday evening at the government house, Yusuf also clarified a wide range of issues including the the recent declaration of a state of emergency on education.

Yusuf said he initially took the entire drama with levity until it was triggered by the online newspaper, claiming he’s no longer picking up calls from Senator Kwankwaso.

He challenged the publisher to show evidence of his claim where and when he ignored Kwankwaso’s call.

Yusuf said he could have instituted legal action against the newspaper but for the mutual relations he has widely established and enjoyed with the media, he jettisoned the move.

Yusuf recalled that his strong relationship with Kwankwaso started way back 40 years, before politics, and wondered about the drivable gain those plotting to scuttle his ties with Kwankwaso stands to benefit.
