President Bola Tinubu has approved Prof. Abdullahi Mustapha’s reappointment as the Director General of the National Biotechnology Research and Development Agency (NBRDA) for a second five-year term.
His reappointment was conveyed in a letter signed by the Secretary to the Government (SGF), Senator George Akume, to build on his salutary record of achievements in the last 4 years.
Mustapha’s second tenure will take effect on 31 October 2024 and is under the provisions of Sections 10 (1) and (3) of the National Biotechnology Development Agency (Establishment) Act, 2022.
Experts consider this development an expression of President Tinubu’s confidence in his ability to drive innovation, attain food security, enhance pharmaceutical production, and position Nigeria at the forefront of the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
Mustapha is a Professor of Bioinorganic Chemistry from Dambatta Local Government Area of Kano State. His extensive wealth of experience in academia and industry will dynamise the ethical practice of biotechnology for national development.
