Dominican Republic arrests two Nigerians for drug smuggling
Two Nigerian men were arrested in the Dominican Republic over the weekend for attempting to smuggle drugs.
The National Directorate of Drug Control (DNCD) stated that agents, acting on a tip, intercepted the two men at Las Americas International Airport, local media, loop news reported on Monday.
They were scheduled to fly to Paris, France, on the same flight.
An X-ray scan revealed foreign substances in their stomachs.
The men, aged 50 and 44, were promptly transferred to the Central Hospital of the Armed Forces, where specialists began removing the bags containing the illicit substances.
According to DNCD, the men expelled 150 bags of an unknown substance.
They have been handed over to prosecutors for prosecution, and the investigation is ongoing to determine whether others were involved in the smuggling attempt.
