Kehinde Fafiyebi, an award winning entrepreneur and founder of FAFKAY Integrated Services Company (FISC), which operates across Nigeria, Dubai, and the UK, credits much of his distinctive business mindset to his diverse academic background. With a solid foundation in Civil Engineering, followed by studies in Computer Science and Communication Technology, Fafiyebi has developed a unique blend of technical expertise and strategic innovation, which informs his approach to both business and problem-solving.
“My academic background in Civil Engineering, followed by studies in Computer Science and Communication Technology, greatly influenced how I approach business and problem-solving,” Fafiyebi explains. “I initially chose engineering as a way to leave my hometown, but my passion for technology and innovation quickly took hold. After completing my diploma, I took courses in web development and digital marketing, which deepened my understanding of how technology can transform business. These experiences allowed me to bridge the gap between tourism and technology, providing a unique perspective that enhances our operations and ultimately benefits our clients.”
Fafiyebi, affectionately called “Fafkay” by colleagues, also shares insights from his time working with the Ministry of Transportation in the UAE and a leading real estate agency in Dubai, comparing the professional and cultural dynamics between Dubai and Nigeria.
“There are significant cultural and professional differences between Dubai and Nigeria that I observed during my time there,” he notes. “For example, the road networks, business insurance, human rights, and healthcare systems are far more efficient in the UAE. The government plays a key role in financing real estate projects, making home ownership more accessible. In contrast, many Nigerians struggle to afford property without significant financial resources. The systems in Dubai work seamlessly, creating a conducive environment for business growth. Nigeria has much to learn in terms of infrastructure, governance, and creating systems that support business development.”
