Ebonyi Governor’s wife vows to protect girl child, combat GBV
Mrs Mary-Maudline Nwifuru, wife of Ebonyi Governor, has reaffirmed her commitment to defend the rights of the girl child and combat Gender-Based Violence (GBV) in the state.
Nwifuru made the remarks on Tuesday, when she led a road walk to mark the 2024 Ebonyi Women’s Day Celebration.
The event is themed, “Uplifting Women for Sustainable Development. ”
She emphasised the importance of reporting any form of abuse against women and children to her office for prompt action.
“I assure the public that we’ll continue to defend the girl child and boy child.
“We’re fighting GBV and against any maltreatment, whether at home or elsewhere,” she stated.
Nwifuru urged everyone to report any maltreatment or abuse, stressing that “we’re mothers, and we’re ready to fight against abuse.”
She also commended Gov. Francis Nwifuru for providing women with opportunities in his administration, demonstrating his support for women’s empowerment.
