Segun Akeredolu, popularly known as Dr Shagz, is quickly becoming one of Nigeria’s most exciting and influential music artists. Born in Lagos State to Pastor James and Eunice Akeredolu, Dr Shagz’s journey from a corporate career to music is a testament to his resilience and determination.

Before pursuing his passion for music, Dr Shagz had a successful career in banking and the oil and gas industry, working with prominent institutions like Guaranty Trust Bank (GTBank), Access Bank, and Sterling Global Oil Exploration. However, despite his stable corporate career, Dr Shagz felt a strong pull towards music and made the bold decision to switch paths.

His music is deeply rooted in his childhood experiences, having grown up in the heart of Mushin, Lagos, where he was inspired by his father’s involvement in the local church choir. This foundation has shaped Dr Shagz’s unique sound, which blends rhythm, melody, and storytelling.

Since making his professional music debut in 2023 with the release of The Beginning, Dr Shagz has been steadily gaining recognition for his genre-blending style and thought-provoking lyrics. His rise in the music industry has been accompanied by a growing fan base, particularly among young people, who connect with his empowering messages. Dr Shagz’s music reflects his life experiences and often addresses social issues such as mental health, poverty, and environmental sustainability.

In addition to his musical achievements, Dr Shagz is also known for his philanthropic efforts. Recently, he made headlines when he paid off a 2 million Naira debt for a woman caught in a dispute with her boss over a missing iPhone 15. His act of kindness sparked widespread admiration online.

Dr Shagz is also the CEO of Quanturn Oil and Gas and a bestselling author of Go Gerrit, a motivational book that has inspired many. Despite his success, he remains deeply committed to creating positive change through his philanthropic efforts and his music.

As he continues to expand his influence, Dr Shagz’s upcoming singles, “Puff Puff Pass” and “Fine Girl,” are eagerly anticipated by fans. He is also set to release a Glitch Session version of his popular tracks “Adura” and “DND.”
