Katsina general hospitals to get medical equipment

Four General Hospitals in Katsina State are to be furnished with essential medical equipment expected to boost quality healthcare delivery to thousands of people in the benefiting areas.

The essential medical equipment is to be supplied through shipment by Project CURE, the world’s largest distributor of donated medical equipment.

The shipment, expected to commence soon, followed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between the organisation and the state government at its headquarters in Denver, Colorado.

The benefiting general hospitals include those in Funtua, Kankia and Musawa council areas, including the Turai Musa Yar’Adua child and maternity hospital in the state metropolitan area.

A spokesperson for the state government, Ibrahim Mohammed, in a statement said Governor Dikko Radda signed the MoU when he visited the organisation’s base.

“This partnership follows a meticulous health needs assessment conducted on Katsina General Hospital, Kankia, Musawa, Funtua, and Turai Yar’adua Hospital on July 9, 2024, by a Project CURE delegation led by Mr. Robert Fetter,” Mohammed said.

Radda said, “This partnership represents our unwavering commitment to elevating healthcare standards in Katsina State,” adding, “By collaborating with Project CURE, we are not just acquiring medical equipment; we are investing in the health and wellbeing of our people.”

He said the initial shipment under this agreement would focus on addressing the critical needs of the assessed facilities, laying the foundation for improved service delivery.

“Subsequent assessments will be conducted to identify and support other healthcare facilities in the state, ensuring that the benefits of this partnership extend across Katsina’s healthcare system.

“Project CURE’s global reputation for providing sustainable solutions to healthcare challenges aligns perfectly with Governor Radda’s vision for a robust and accessible healthcare system in Katsina State.

“The organisation’s expertise in distributing high-quality medical equipment and implementing sustainable healthcare solutions will significantly enhance medical service delivery across the state.

“This agreement is a pivotal step in improving healthcare infrastructure, bringing our vision for comprehensive healthcare reform closer to reality,” he said,
