
The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Jigawa Command, has apprehended three suspects for allegedly vandalising a transformer in Kiyako village, Birnin Kudu Local Council.
The Public Relations Officer of the command, ASC Badaruddeen Tijjani, disclosed this in Dutse yesterday.He revealed that the suspects, aged between 21 and 28, were arrested on Friday after stealing armoured cable from a transformer in nearby Babaldu village.
Tijjani stated, “The suspects were seen committing the offence by a resident of the community, who promptly reported the incident to our operatives in the area. Upon receiving the report, our men rushed to the scene and successfully apprehended the suspects.
“When interrogated, one of the suspects, a self-proclaimed scrap dealer, admitted to buying the vandalised cable valued at N385,000 for N40,000 from the other two suspects.”
Reacting to the incident, the NSCDC Commandant in the state, Mr Muhammad Danjuma, expressed displeasure and warned that anyone caught engaging in criminal activities would face the full weight of the law. Danjuma has directed a thorough investigation into the case, after which the suspects will be charged to court.
