Suspected kidnappers yesterday abducted Dr Haruna Kigbu, a former member of the House of Representatives who represented Lafia/Obi/Keana Federal Constituency, on his way to Jos.

The incident, which occurred around 6:00 p.m. between Nunku in Akwanga Local Council of Nasarawa State and Gwantu in Sanga Local Council of Kaduna State, also claimed the life of Kigbu’s police orderly.

According to villagers who spoke to The Guardian, sporadic gunshots were heard, and upon arrival at the scene, the lifeless body of the police officer was found.
He was kidnapped along side his wife, while his abductors are demanding for an undisclosed amount of money as ransom
The area is notorious for criminal activities, with several kidnappings and killings reported in the past.

At the time of filing this report, the police had yet to issue an official statement on the abduction.
