Adeleye floors Dacres in brutal 80-second KO, secures English title

David AdeleyeNigerian-born David Adeleye delivered a knockout-of-the-year contender, demolishing Solly Dacres with a devastating left hook just 80 seconds into the fight.

Fresh off a stoppage loss to Fabio Wardley two months ago, Adeleye returned to West London and unleashed the fight-ending blow, stunning the towering Brummie with the only significant shot of the opening round.

From ringside, it appeared to be a glancing hit, but replays revealed Adeleye’s thunderous punch connecting with the top of Dacres’ skull.

Reflecting on his triumphant return, the 28-year-old said: “I still have a lot to do. I’m going back to the gym. I’ve got a big future ahead of me. I know where I can go, and I’ve got to take the steps to get there.

“I am a strong-minded individual. I went to the gym, Adam had me grafting from the basics. Kudos to Solomon, I hope he has a good support group behind him.”

The fight began with both boxers testing their range with a few probing jabs. After missing an initial wild left hook, Adeleye landed a lead left hook reminiscent of a prime Mike Tyson, flooring Dacres, the defending English champion.

The referee immediately waved off the contest as Dacres lay face-down on the Wembley Arena canvas. Fortunately, Dacres recovered and left the ring on his feet, while Adeleye celebrated by strapping the English title belt over his shoulder.

This commanding performance marked Adeleye’s first fight under the guidance of his new trainer, Adam Booth, the renowned coach behind David Haye’s cruiserweight and heavyweight world title reigns.

Booth praised Adeleye’s athleticism and power, stating, “He is a phenomenal athlete that had really bad habits. It all starts from the floor; we’ve done so much work with his legs.

“I’ve worked with some of the biggest punchers, and his jab and lead left are as hard as I’ve taken on the pads.”

Adeleye’s electrifying display solidifies his position as a rising force in the heavyweight division.
