
White Tigers Football Club of Badagry, at the weekend, defeated All Saints FC of Lagos Island to win the maiden Spires Five-A-Side Naija Street Soccer Tournament held at the Stables Sports Centre, Surulere, Lagos.

In the final game, which ended 2-1 in favour of White Tigers, Abubakar Diggio and Afeez Rahman scored for the champions, while Hammed Wahab got the only goal for All Saints FC.
ASD Academy defeated Two Odds FC 2-1 through a penalty shootout to claim the third place prize after the regulation time had ended 2-2.
Wahab Hammed of All Saints emerged the tournament’s MVP and top scorer with 12 goals, the best goalkeeper award went to Emmanuel Esin of White Tigers, while Emmanuel Olum of the same team was named the coach of the tournament.
All Saints FC bagged the Fair Play Award. Speaking at the end of the competition witnessed by several top dignitaries, some ex-internationals and the Director-General of the Lagos State Sports Commission, Lekan Fatodu, among others, initiator of the competition, Dr Bankole Allibay, expressed his delight on the overall success of the event and promised a more expansive competition in 2025.
“This is our maiden event and I must tell you that I am impressed with what we have been able to achieve.
“Today, we gave N10 million to our winners across board, but I will like to assure you that in the next edition, we are already looking at N50 million as the prize money for the top three teams,” he said.
The Spires Five-A-Side Naija Street Soccer Tournament started in March with 40 teams competing in the regional qualifiers across Lagos state.
