Poised to shakeup the logistics industry in Lagos and the rest of the country, OFXpress recently debuted in Lagos amid fanfare and high expectations.

Adding that delivery in Nigeria is currently tumultuous and somewhat burdensome for consumers, he said they are revolutionsing the market with efficiency and fair pricing. Speaking further, he said they have partnered with reliable and vetted vendors from which users can order goods thorough their mobile platform. He said while the market appears saturated, it is not really so as, “I can confidently say we have just one competitor currently and we can even top what they are doing right now. If you are not providing the level of service people need, then the market is not saturated in my opinion.”
Akinnusi said the business directly employs five people already with almost 20 independent contractors. “We are starting small and want to perfect our model before expanding to other parts of Lagos.”
Formerly based in Istanbul, Turkey, the businessman said he relocated to Nigeria to contribute his quota to national development. “I started this business in Turkey in 2021 and it has been very successful before going on to open Oluseyi Fly Consults, also in Turkey. I decided to bring my wealth of experience to start off something here and I strongly believe this would do well here.”
He added that though they have just kicked off, there have been a number of teething challenges including poor business etiquettes from vendors which he said is affecting their own operations.
Chief Operating Officer (COO), Bahia Rohi, revealed that the app has been in the works for almost a year and the launch was a vision come to life. Expressing optimism that the first outlet on Orchid Road, Lekki, is the start of many other branches in Lagos and Nigeria, she said what stands them out is delivering orders speedily. “Our model of payment for vendors and riders is also very different from what our competitors do.”
Also predicting rapid expansion in Lagos and other states in the next year, she said their goal is to dominate the logistics industry; adding that their ultimate goal is to take over Africa. “The app is user friendly and coupled with our promise of speedy delivery and fair pricing, these are some of the strategies we intend to employ to speed up our growth,” she said.
On his part, development manager, Olanrewaju Olumide, said the riders would meet weekly and be continuously cautioned on excesses. He added that ideas would be shared and field challenges, addressed. “They are the ones on the field, meeting people and our weekly meeting would capture all data. Whatever challenges they face would be dealt with appropriately,” he said.
Going into details on how the model works, he said it consists of three apps working simultaneously, one for users, another for vendors and the last for riders. “The way it works is that customers make orders via the app and whichever vendor receives the order would see that an order has been made which they would then accept and ready for pickup by the rider. Any nearby rider receives notification to pick it up from the restaurant or store or supermarket and deliver it to the customer.”
