
The Executive Secretary of Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (LDSVA), Titilola Vivour-Adeniyi, has revealed that about 60 domestic and sexual based violence convictions have been secured in 2024 by the state government.
Vivout-Adeniyi stated this on Tuesday at a sensitisation walk and discussion on gender based violence held at the Palace of Oba Elegushi themed: ’16 days of activism: Traditional rulers stand against gender-based violence.
She said that the state government remains committed to stamping out domestic and sexual based violence from the state because it has zero tolerance for such acts.
She stated that her agency decided to take the sensitisation around gender based violence to the domain of traditional rulers because it wanted to deepen its relationship and partnership with monarchs.
She added that it is because they play an important role in society and could play a great role in checking gender based violence in society.

According to her, Eti Osa Local Council was picked for the sensitisation because high cases of domestic and sexual based violences have been recorded in the council in the last four to five years.
She implored victims to speak up while residents who witness such incidents should also raise alarm as Lagos State cares.
She further said victims should know that they are not alone as the state government is ready to go with them to get justice.
During the walk around the streets and roads off the palace of the Oba Elegushi, participants, who are majorly residents of the community, aside displaying banners with different inscriptions campaigning against sexual and gender based violence, handbills with various messages were given out to residents.
On hand to provide insight about activities that could be termed domestic and sexual based violence was Mrs Ibidapo Alakija, enjoining victims to report.
She also educated the participants on the implications of engaging in acts that could be termed domestic and sexual based violence.
