Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) has warned petroleum marketers against hoarding and engaging in unethical practices during the Yuletide.

Osun State coordinator, NMDPRA, Kunle Adeyemo, gave the warning in Osogbo. He emphasised that the authority would intensify its monitoring and surveillance efforts across the state to ensure compliance with its regulatory mandate, including checks on the quality, quantity and safety of operations at petroleum outlets.

He affirmed that products were available in all depots around the country, warning that any marketer found hoarding the product or tampering with the pump illegally would face serious sanctions.

He urged all residents and motorists to avoid panic buying or storage of the products as such actions could cause a fire outbreak, noting that the Federal Government had ensured a sufficient supply of products.

“Marketers should not engage in diversion, under-dispensing, hoarding, adulteration, and unsafe acts in petroleum retail outlets. Any marketer or operator caught engaging in sharp practices will be sanctioned accordingly,” he warned.
