Warn youths against use of fireworks

The Kaduna Police Command has assured residents of the state of their safety during the Christmas celebration, as it reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening security in every community.

In a statement, yesterday, the Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Abdullahi, pledged the command’s unwavering commitment and readiness to maintaining peace and order throughout the festive season.

According to him, “proactive measures have been put in place to address potential security challenges and to reassure citizens of their safety during this period of celebration.”

He said that major deployment of the anti-kidnapping unit, anti-vice section, CP monitoring unit and Operation Fushin Kada had been made in strategic flashpoints within the state.

The CP, therefore, urged the public to avoid actions that could disrupt the peace and security of the state, stressing that “the youths should refrain from the use of banned items like fireworks, knockouts, and any other material capable of causing fear or unrest in the state.”

RELATEDLY, the Ebonyi State Police Command, yesterday, assured the people of the state of their safety during the Yuletide.

The Command warned everyone to refrain from using bangers during this period due to the risks of fire outbreaks and the panic caused by loud noises, adding that the command would not condone any disorder.

It also warned against the burning of tyres on roads and actions taken by masquerades should not infringe on the rights of others or obstruct traffic.

The Commissioner of Police (CP), Anthonia Uche-Anya, in a statement signed by the Command’s Spokesperson, DSP Joshua Ukandu, re-assured the people of Ebonyi State of their safety, stressing that policemen had been fully deployed to all border areas to guarantee adequate safety during the Christmas and New Year festivities.

ALSO, Yobe State Police Commissioner, Ahmed Garba, has assured residents of the state of hitch-free Christmas and New Year celebrations.

According to him, comprehensive security measures have been adopted to ensure an enjoyable festive season.

Ahmed gave the assurances, at the weekend, during the end-of-the-year conference held in Damaturu.

He pledged the command’s commitment to protecting people’s lives and property in the state, including the border communities with the Niger Republic.

Besides, he said that strategic deployment of personnel had been made to churches and other places of worship, adding that recreational centres and playgrounds are guaranteed hitch-free celebrations.

The commissioner, therefore, warned individuals with criminal intentions to desist, as adequate preparations had been made to arrest and prosecute them in courts.

Ahmed also urged parents and community leaders to caution their children and wards against violence and other disruptive behaviours during the festivities.
