Kogi flags off school renovation, restates commitment to education

Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo, has awarded N69 million contract for the rehabilitation of the Government Secondary School (GSS), Iluke, through the State Community and Social Development Agency (CSDA).

The institution, which was devastated by fire in 2020, is to undergo its first major renovation since its establishment in 1977. The Commissioner for Education, Wemi Jones, who spoke at the ceremony, described the project as a pivotal moment in the state’s commitment to educational development.

He emphasised that education remains the priority of the Ododo administration, which is heavily investing in primary and secondary education to prepare students for self-reliance.

The Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Fanwo, also hailed the initiative as a fulfilment of the governor’s promises. He reflected on his connection to the school, describing it as instrumental in shaping his life.

The General Manager of the CSDA, Dauda Momoh, disclosed that the project includes the renovation of three boreholes in the community, alongside the school rehabilitation. He assured the public that the project would be completed within four weeks, as directed by the governor.

The Olu of Iluke Bunu, Chief Funsho Ayinmiro, praised the governor Ododo for delivering on his promise. The school’s principal, Olorunfemi Mengbole, echoed the community’s appreciation, while residents celebrated the development, calling it an investment in the future of their children.
