Visionary women’s club marks eighth anniversary

• Empowers Widows, Orphans In Lagos

The Visionary Women’s Club, based in Lagos, recently marked its eighth year anniversary in Lagos. The club also empowered the underprivileged, widows, and orphans.  

The event also featured fundraising and charity giveaways. It was a heartwarming scene for both of the beneficiaries and the benefactors, as it brought smiles to the faces of participants. Many of them went home with household essentials after showing their gratitude to the organisers.

The spokesperson of Visionary Women’s Club, Label Osemeke, said that “this year’s anniversary is a testament to the club’s unwavering commitment to humanitarian service, poverty alleviation and women empowerment.”

Giving her brief history of the club, she said that VWC began as a Christian organisation with the name then as Christian Women Against Poverty Initiative (CWAPI) in 2016. The group soon metamorphosed into a vibrant organisation that is dedicated to giving, caring, and empowering the needy people we now see as the VWC today.

She said: ‘’This year’s  anniversary celebrations has not only brought a moment of joy, but has given an opportunity to reflect on the  successful story of the journey of the club with enablement to provide food and clothing for the underprivileged families and empowering women with skills and knowledge resources to help them thrive independently. This drive has since its inception touched countless lives. 

During the giveaways,  widows, orphans, and vulnerable people received essential items,  showcasing the VWC’s continued dedication to their objectives of bringing smiles to the beneficiaries.

The fundraising aspect of the event highlighted the club’s aspirations to broaden their reach and deepen its impact in the communities across Nigeria.

Consequent upon this,  the club called for partnership with individuals, corporate organisations, and other non governmental organizations (NGOs) to strengthen the drive of a more meaningful change in the lives of the less privileged Nigerians. 

Osemeke said further that the club was forward-looking to its ninth anniversary with a resolve to surpass  the present impact of this year, by creating sustainable solutions to poverty alleviation and women empowerment in the country.  She said that VWC  would offer scholarships and provide funding to aspiring young female entrepreneurs.
