Italy’s top Serie A side, Atalanta BC, has said that Super Eagles forward, Ademola Lookman, will not be sold or loaned out when the transfer window opens in January.

The Nigeria international has been on fire in the past and present season with the Orobics and as further proof of his importance to the Gian Piero Gasperini-managed side, he emerged as the current holder of the most coveted crown in African football after he was voted as the ‘African Footballer of the Year 2024.”

The transfer window for January opens this week and Atalanta has got many of its stars among whom Lookman ranks one of the highest being on the lens of clubs in the English Premier League, Bundesliga, and Ligue 1 among others.

In the case of Lookman, Liverpool is looking to his side to bolster their attacking options.
However, D’Amico said that the ‘Black and Blues’ are keen to retain the present squad as they aim to challenge for all trophies in the season.

He further warned interested parties interested in Lookman to look elsewhere while stating that ‘he’s not for sale.’

“Certainly, the January transfer window is a difficult one for all clubs,” the club’s director, Tony D’Amico told Sky Sport Italia.

“If there are any opportunities, we will go for them, but obviously maintain the full squad that we currently have at our disposal.”

Lookman provided an assist in a 1-1 draw against Lazio on Saturday night and this earned him a man of the match award.

The former Everton star has netted 11 goals for Atlanta in the ongoing season and with a market value of €55m little wonder why elite European sides are looking towards his direction.
