The Federal Nigeria Society for the Blind (FNSB) has advocated for the recognition and welfare of visually impaired persons.

FNSB Executive Chairman, Arit Tunde-lmoye, said this during a yearly walk of the white cane, organised for the visually impaired persons with the theme ‘Navigating to Independence’, in Lagos.

Stating that the FNSB has been at the forefront in the rehabilitation of the blind for almost 70 years, she said the society is committed to promoting inclusivity, diversity, and empowerment for individuals with visual impairment.
She stated that predicaments should not impede anyone from achieving his or her dream.

FNSB Vice Chairman, Oluyemisi Daramola stressed the need for equal opportunities and inclusiveness for people living with disabilities.

She highlighted FNSB’s mission since 1955 to provide hope, support, and opportunities for individuals facing blindness and visual impairment.

Daramola emphasised the school’s commitment to promoting stable mental, and physical well-being, good health, and youth development of the blind.

Also speaking, the Chairman of the Board of Governors for the Centre for the Blind, Ayopeju Njideka, urged parents and caregivers of visually impaired persons to be more caring, patient, and tolerant saying, “because these persons still have a lot  to contribute to national development.”
