At Lagos event, IGP charges officers to serve honourably

IGP Kayode Egbetokun

Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, yesterday, in Lagos told police officers nationwide that those who serve honourably would not only retire with a sense of pride and fulfilment but also be remembered by the people.

He gave the charge at the Police College in GRA, Ikeja, Lagos during the pull-out of Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG), Abiodun Sylvester Alabi, Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) Joshua Ayodeji and AIG Olanrewaju Stephen.

Egbetokun said Alabi, Ayodeji and Stephen’s ranks were a testament to hard work, dedication and resilience.

Also speaking, the Commissioner of Police in charge of the Special Enquiry Bureau, Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID), Emmanuel Aina, observed: “I worked directly with DIG Alabi and I can say he’s a humane officer, forthright, honest and straightforward. He will not mind whose ox is gored to speak the truth. If he’s convinced about the truth, you can’t convince him otherwise. I have worked with the good, the bad and the ugly. DIG Alabi is one of the good officers I have worked with. DIG Alabi carried all of us along.”

“I want to emulate his hardworking attitude. He’s always in the office, always present.”
