
The Niger State Government has restricted movement in some areas over suspected terrorist threats in farms along the regions of Basa in the Shiroro Local Government area.
Three persons died and five others were injured during a series of bomb explosions in the Bassa community in the Shiroro local government in mid-December 2024.
Niger State Governor Umaru Bago made this known to the public in Minna, during the 2024 Base Socio-Cultural Activities (BASA) held at the 013 Quick Response Force of the Nigerian Air Force.
Bago, represented by the Commissioner for Homeland Security, Bello Abdullahi, said the military must first clear the area of mines before locals can safely move around.
He noted that terrorists have begun planting bombs, indicating a heightened military effort to eliminate terrorist and bandit activity in the region.
Bago said the state government was mindful of suspected mines planted by terrorists in the Shiroro Local Government Area of the state, adding that the state is relying on the military to have Areas cleared of mines.

Air Force to sustain operations intended to clear the state of banditry and terrorism.
