Federal Government has upgraded the Maximum Custodial Centre in Kuje and Suleja as part of move to rehabilitate custodial facilities across Nigeria. Acting Controller General of the Nigerian Correctional Service, Sylvester Nwakuche, who went on a tour of the facility and that of Suleja, yesterday, said the new look of the centre was a reflection of the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu, reaching out to inmates.
He said the Minister of Interior, Dr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, did not waste time to ensure that custodial centres were well fortified to prevent any form of external or internal breach by embarking on an overall upgrade, repairs and building of new facilities.
Among facilities upgraded at the centre are the clinic, which has been expanded and equipped with ultra-modern scanner, physiotherapy equipment, X-ray machine and a standard medical laboratory, among others.
While addressing personnel at the Kuje facility, The acting CG said the agency remained committed to its zero corruption policy, warning that any officer found engaging in misconduct would face the law.
According to the prison boss, a new facility of higher capacity and standard is being built at Suleja for inmates as the current one is outdated.
