Imo State Police Commissioner, Aboki Danjuma, has said that the command arrested 75 criminal suspects and rescued seven kidnapped victims during the just celebrated Yuletide season.

He said his men also recovered seven AK-47 rifles, four shotguns, three pump-action guns, and over 150 rounds of ammunition in the same period.

Danjuma disclosed this at the formal decoration of 102 officers of the command who were recently promoted to new ranks by the Police Service Commission, held at the Command’s headquarters in Owerri on Tuesday.

The Imo Police boss stated that the achievement underscored the unwavering commitment of the men of the command under his leadership in crime fighting and the protection of lives and property in the state.

He said, “As we celebrate this achievement, let’s also reflect on the progress we’ve made together. During the recent Yuletide period, our officers led intelligence-driven operations that resulted in the arrest of 75 suspects involved in serious crimes like kidnapping, armed robbery, murder, and rape.

“We also recovered 7 AK-47 rifles, 4 shotguns, 3 pump-action guns, and over 150 rounds of ammunition. Additionally, 7 kidnapped victims were rescued and reunited with their families, 4 stolen vehicles recovered, and 3 suspects were neutralized.

“These successes reflect our collective effort. While we celebrate, we must recognize that the road ahead remains challenging. The threats to public safety are evolving, and we must stay vigilant.”

Danjuma also congratulated the newly promoted command officers, saying, “You have earned this recognition through your hard work and resilience, but as you step into these higher ranks, know that the responsibility is now greater.

“As leaders, you will be tasked not only with responding to crises but also with preventing them, building trust within the community, and upholding our core values of integrity, professionalism, and service.

“I urge you to embrace your roles with determination and humility. Your journey is just beginning, and I have no doubt you will rise to the challenges ahead and continue making Imo State a safer place for all.”
