Yusuf to flag off N3b intervention for flood victims in Kano

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf

Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has concluded arrangements to flag off the distribution of N3 billion intervention funds for victims of flood during the last rainy season.

Yusuf disclosed the plan while declaring open the 23rd State Executive Council Meeting held at Kano Government House on Wednesday.

Yusuf revealed that the fund released by the Federal Government was part of a flood intervention rollout to 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory to relieve the pain of the natural disaster.

The governor disclosed that the money remitted to the state treasury a few months ago is riped for direct distribution to affected victims across the state.

He added that the administration has kept the money appropriately to identify the real victims who will benefit from the Federal Government intervention, adding that strict compliance with accountability and responsiveness would be observed.

“Now that we are ready, we have all the lists of the victims, we know how much each victim will collect, so the distribution will commence,” the governor assured.

He said that the main and sub-committees for the distribution of the donation were set up and would go across the 44 local government areas to disburse the amount to real victims.

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and Kano State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) with support from intentional donor organisations tracked the areas and people affected by the flood in Kano State.
