Curated by Etse Aliu, Balami’s architectural background adds a unique depth to his artistic process, seamlessly merging structure with fluidity to breathe life into each piece.
With his works, Balami seeks moments of stillness in a fast–paced world, finding peace in his creative process. The exhibition, titled, My Serenity, embodies the artists intention to “carve out spaces of calm and self-reflection for himself, amid the chaos of Lagos living.”
A celebration of the power of art to foster dialogue , spark imagination, and bring people together in shared wonder, Balami added he also intend to engage viewers on a personal level, encouraging them to find their own meanings within the forms, colours and stories presented.
His signature palette of blues, blacks and gold evokes serenity, depth, and resilience-emotions that lie at the heart of his story telling. Nature also plays a pivotal role in his work, as he draws inspiration from landscapes, textures and forms, bringing these elements together to create art that is both visually striking and emotionally resonant.
In addition, Balami’s art is filled with the energy of those who uplift and support him, his family and friends, who act as steadfast anchors in his creative journey.
To him, their love and belief in his vision live in every brushstroke, reinforcing the notion that creativity is both an individual pursuit and a shared experience. An abstract artist based in Lagos, Balami disclosed, “this is more than an exhibition, it is an invitation to pause, reflect, and connect.”
