Affected residents of the Bodija bomb blast have lamented that they are yet to receive the promised compensation.

Speaking during an interdenominational service held to commemorate the tragic event, the President of the Bodija Estate Residents’ Association (BERA), Pastor Muyiwa Bamgbose, decried the plight of families still displaced due to the destruction.

He noted that many properties remained uninhabitable and overgrown with weeds.

The service was organised by BERA in collaboration with the Dejo Oyelese Vigilante Group (DOVG) and was held at the Bodija Estate Baptist Church in remembrance of the five residents who lost their lives in the explosion.

Bamgbose listed the deceased as: Mr Fimihan Fagbemi, Mr. Toluwalase Kehinde, Mr Ladipo Azeez Oyebamiji, Mrs Agnus Bolanle Badmus, and Mr Bolu Adebiyi.

He also highlighted the lasting impact of the incident, which left over 70 people injured and damaged more than 200 houses, leaving a deep scar on the community.

But Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde has assured the relations of the victims of compensation.

Makinde gave the assurance yesterday during the remembrance service.

The governor, who was represented by his Executive Assistant on Administration, Rev Idowu Ogedengbe, noted that his administration would continue to pursue security and justice, calling for continual vigilance among residents of the state.
