On January 13, 2025, a series of events were held to commemorate the first anniversary of the passing of Otunba Anthony Olusegun Odugbesan, the Otunba Jagunragunshin of Odoragunshin, Epe, Lagos State and Ajisetoba of Ijebu-Isiwo, Ogun State.

The remembrance began with a memorial mass at St. Paul’s Catholic Church, Ebute-Metta, followed by a tombstone blessing at the Vaults and Gardens. Family and friends later gathered for a reception hosted in Ikoyi.

Otunba Odugbesan was a distinguished academic and public servant. He served as the Director-General of the Lagos State Ministry of Education and later, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.

His academic contributions were deeply rooted in his tenure at the University of Lagos. A dedicated humanitarian, he served as the Lagos State Chairman of the Nigerian Red Cross Society for many years and was a fellow of numerous professional bodies, including the Nigerian Institute of Marketing.

His wife, the late Chief (Mrs.) Felicia Abimbola Odugbesan, was a trailblazing technocrat and administrator and the first female Rector of Yaba College of Technology. She was a founding convener of the Women in Technical Education (WITED), which continues today to drive the participation of women in STEM and innovation.

Together, they left a legacy of excellence and service. The remembrance activities held by their children were a heartfelt tribute to their enduring impact on their community and the nation at large.
