Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has approved the appointment of 902 officers across various cadres of the state civil service.
The state government made the announcement on 20 January 2025 through its official social media page. The recruitment spans approximately 60 cadres across Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs). It includes Education Officers for 35 teaching subject areas under the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology.
According to the Chairman of the Oyo State Civil Service Commission, Alhaji (Chief) Kamoru Abiodun Aderibigbe JP:
“All successful applicants will collect their letters of offer of appointment before the end of January 2025,” he said.
On 3 October 2024, the government had announced the recruitment of 791 officers into different cadres. Aderibigbe described it as the largest recruitment in the past decade.
“This recruitment will be the highest in the mainstream of the civil service in the last two decades. I believe we could have recruited even more, but the governor has consistently approved the conversion of officers who were initially employed in lower cadres by the previous administration but possess higher educational qualifications.

“In addition, those who have upgraded their qualifications through tertiary institutions, with the approval of the state government, have also benefited. About 1,500 workers have been converted through the governor’s magnanimity since the beginning of this administration, and more are still being converted as we speak.”
The statement also emphasised the minimum requirements for applicants. Positions requiring a degree mandate that candidates be university graduates with at least a second-class lower division.
For cadres requiring a Higher National Diploma (HND) certificate, applicants must be polytechnic graduates with a minimum of lower credit.
