The Nigeria Police Force has rescued 22 victims and arrested 578 suspects in its ongoing efforts to tackle crime nationwide.

The arrests include 179 armed robbery suspects, 100 kidnapping suspects, 152 murder suspects, 34 individuals for unlawful possession of prohibited firearms, 77 for sexual assault, and 110 suspected cultists. The police also recovered 73 firearms, 310 rounds of ammunition, and 56 stolen vehicles.

Force spokesperson ACP Muyiwa Adejobi disclosed these details while parading some suspects at the Intelligence Response Team (IRT) office in Guzape, Abuja.

Among those paraded were members of a gang led by Muhammed Kabir, 36, who, along with accomplices Donald Okpere and Haruna Ibrahim, impersonated military personnel to defraud victims of millions of naira. The gang reportedly used fake bank alerts to purchase gadgets and medical equipment.

Another notable case involved the arrest of Sunday Okwo Ade, Monday Solomon, David Emmanuel, and Shakiru Badmus.

The group specialised in stealing motorcycles from farmers in communities across Lagos and Ogun States. Police recovered 15 stolen motorcycles from the suspects.

Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Kayode Egbetokun reaffirmed the Force’s commitment to safeguarding life and property while creating a safe environment for citizens to do their daily activities.

The Force will not relent in its pursuit of criminal elements and will ensure justice is served in accordance with the laws of our country,” Adejobi stated.

The police also reiterated their resolve to sustain proactive measures in curbing criminal activities nationwide.
