Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has urged contractors handling various projects in the state to deliver as scheduled and ensure projects do not drag into the rainy season.
This was contained in a statement on Thursday, where the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Fred Itua, quoted Okpebholo making the remarks during an inspection of the ongoing construction of the first flyover in Benin City, a landmark project being undertaken by his administration.
Expressing satisfaction with the work done so far, Okpebholo stated that his administration is focused on delivering tangible projects rather than signing Memorandums of Understanding.
He said, “We are practical people, not MoUs. You can see for yourself the progress made. Building a flyover is not something you rush into, but I am confident in the contractor’s capacity and the quality of work being delivered.”
During an inspection of the Upper Ekenwan Road construction, the governor directed contractors to accelerate their efforts and work round the clock to ensure completion before the rainy season.
At the drainage site opposite the Army Barracks, Okpebholo stressed his administration’s commitment to providing motorable roads across the state. Residents in the area cheered him as he assured them of the project’s timely completion.
He added, “The work is progressing well, and we are doing everything possible to finish it before the rainy season to ease transportation for our people. I have instructed the contractors to work day and night to meet the deadline.”
Okpebholo also pointed out the Federal Government’s interest in Edo State’s development, assuring residents that President Bola Tinubu remains committed to supporting the state’s transformation agenda.
