
Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has approved the appointments of Jamila Magaji Abdullahi as the new Accountant General and Muhammad Yahaya Liman as Director of Treasury.
The governor’s spokesperson, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, in a statement, said the two appointments take immediate effect.
Until her new appointment, Abdullahi was director of treasury in the office of the Accountant General. She holds a B.Sc. in Accountancy, an MBA in Finance and Investment, and a Master of Accounting and Financial Management from Bayero University, Kano.
Abdullahi replaced Abdulsalam Abdulkareem, who was recently elevated to the position of Commissioner for Rural and Urban Development.
She worked at the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) before joining the Kano State Ministry of Finance, where she was equipped with the skills necessary to oversee the state’s financial operations.
Similarly, the Governor approved the appointment of Akibu Isa Murtala as Special Adviser on Administration, Governor’s Office, and Engr. Abubakar Sadiq, Deputy Managing Director, Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Agency (RUWASA).
Tofa said the appointments underscore the administration’s commitment to enabling highly skilled and experienced professionals in critical positions to drive innovation, improve financial management, and ensure efficient service delivery for the people of Kano State.
Meanwhile, the government has constituted a strategic committee to revive the Kano State Transport Authority (Kano Line) for a robust and efficient public transport system.
The ad hoc management committee members include Sa’idu Abdullahi Shu’aibu, Chairman and Ag. Managing Director; Bello Abdul DAGS, Ministry of Public Procurement, Member; Abdullahi Tukur DAGS Ministry of Works and Housing, Member; Barr. Badamasi Suleiman Gandu, Member, and Kabiru Habibu Kyauta PAS, Special Duties as Secretary.
Yusuf urged the appointees to work tirelessly to attain the collective progress of Kano State and ensure the administration’s vision of improved governance and service delivery.
