Sanwo-Olu plans flyover to connect 20 riverine communities in Amuwo Odofin

Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, who warned residents not to dump refuse on the four roads that were commissioned on Tuesday in Oriade Local Council Development Area (LCDA) of Amuwo Odofin Local Government Area (LGA), has revealed that the state government will go back to work on constructing a flyover to link riverine communities in Oriade LCDA as part of opening up the area for better economic activities.

Sanwo-Olu, who thanked the contractors for executing quality projects, expressed a high sense of gratitude to the residents for going along with the government.

The four roads reconstructed are Irede, Mumuni Adio, Navy Town, and Old Ojo roads Phase 1.

“These are four strategic roads that are changing the socio-economic state of the Amuwo Odofin Local Council,” he said. “We told NNPC to help the state repair the Mumini Adio Badmus Road, considering it is a major route for the transportation of PMS, but NNPC did not listen to us, but we have done it now.”

Responding to the request of the council chairman, the governor promised residents in the area that the second phase of the Old Ojo Road will start soon and will be completed.

“It is a road that will change lives because it is a parallel road to the Lagos-Badagry Expressway,” Sanwo-Olu stated.

The Special Adviser, Office of Infrastructure, Olufemi Daramola, said that the projects are critical to the development and prosperity of the council and the state.

He said, “Each of these roads serves as a vital transportation corridor that facilitates economic growth, enhances the movement of goods and services, and supports the social fabric of the local community.

“These roads improve connectivity and also support intermodal transportation, linking key transportation hubs, including the jetties and bonded terminals in the area.

“Together, these projects are part of the broader infrastructural vision that aligns with the THEMES+ agenda, especially in the areas of transportation and traffic management.”
