Man, 27, remanded over alleged attempted murder

An Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court, Ibadan, on Wednesday ordered the remand of 27-year-old Tiamiyu Gafari, in a correctional facility over alleged attempted murder.

Gafari, whose address was not provided, was charged with attempted murder.

The Magistrate, Miss. Gladys Oladele, did not take the plea of the defendant for want of jurisdiction.

She directed the police to return the case file to the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) for legal advice.

Oladele adjourned the case until Feb. 24, for mention.

Earlier, the Prosecutor, Cpl. Oluwafemi Ajayi, told the court that Gafari committed the offense on Jan.20 at about 12.30 p.m at Omi-Adio Area of Ibadan.

Ajayi said the defendant unlawfully attempted to murder a 30-year-old man, Kamorudeen Oyelakin, by hitting him with a pestle on his head.

He said the offence contravened Section 320 of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.
