“Mathematics is the foundation of science, technology, innovation, and development. Everything from engineering to Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Information Technology (IT) relies on mathematical principles. This competition helps students demystify mathematics and build a solid foundation for their careers,” Bilgin stated.

Explaining further, he said since its launch 22 years ago in collaboration with the National Mathematical Centre (NMC), the competition has grown into Nigeria’s largest and most impactful mathematics contest, engaging over 10,000 students yearly from 2,000 schools across 30 states.

“Beyond academics, the competition has inspired schools nationwide to establish specialised training programmes, grooming young minds from an early stage.”

“It has become a source of motivation, pushing students to engage deeply with mathematics. Over the past 22 years, thousands of students have honed their skills, equipping them for success in diverse fields like science, economics, and management,” Bilgin added.

As Nigeria embraces digital transformation, initiatives like the NTIC-NMC Mathematics Competition play a vital role in developing critical thinkers and problem solvers, ensuring a brighter future for the nation.
