Okpebholo denies owing Edo LG workers’ salaries

Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo

Edo State Government, on Monday, denied claims that some local government workers were owed salaries.

Okpebholo, in a statement, called on the general public to ignore the claims, saying he remains committed to workers’ welfare in Edo State.

He clarified that no government workers in the state, including local government workers, were owed any salary, as all payments, including that of January 2025, had been paid.

“As a result of this total commitment, the State Government has continued to pay the salaries of local government workers without fail, since assuming office,” he said.

“This remarkable feat is all the more impressive, considering the setbacks in allocation payments that the State has faced due to the ongoing legal crisis between the State and the embattled Local Government chairmen.”

Okpebholo said he would ensure that no Edo worker, irrespective of status will be made to pass through undue hardship.
