Group demands disbandment of GAC

The Good Governance for Lagos Group has called for the dissolution of the Governance Advisory Council (GAC) as the body has outlived its usefulness and has become a burden on President Bola Tinubu and the Lagos State government.

The group, in a statement by its team leader, Olaogun Thorpe, and Grassroots Mobiliser, Adebayo Akanni, said the rumpus within the Lagos State All Progressives Congress (APC) has continued to grow as opinions keep piling up on the usefulness or otherwise of the Governance Advisory Committee (GAC) a body created by the President Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.

“In recent times, the body has been under intense pressure and criticism regarding its essence and continued existence given the sharp polarisation and balkanisation within its rank and file.

“The committee is divided into camps of political cleavages of Justice Forum (JF) and The Mandate Movement (TMM). Segregation on the basis of state of origin is also an issue within the GAC fold.”

“The integrity of some members the Governance Advisory Council is being put to question in recent times because they have been foisting their children on party members for political positions. Three GAC Leaders from Ikorodu, Ajeromi-Ifelodun and Oshodi-Isolo have their children as members of the house of assembly.”
