The Ahiazu Patriotic Front (APF), a group of seasoned professionals and governance advocates in Ahiazu Mbaise Local Government Area, has commended the Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma, on his efforts to improve security and development in the state.

After a quarterly review meeting held in Okponkume, Mpam, on February 4, 2025, the group applauded the governor for describing it as one of the most peaceful, calm, and secure Christmas seasons in the last five years.

The group expressed appreciation to the governor that many Imo indigenes who returned from the diaspora to celebrate Christmas at home returned with any incident of insecurity.

According to APF, this is a result of the security reforms carried out by Governor Uzodimma, which provide incentives to security agencies to maintain vigilance to promptly respond to disturbances.

Furthermore, the group collectively passed a vote of confidence on the Chairman of Progressives Congress in Ahiazu Local Government, Ethelbert Ugwu, and the Chairman of the LGA, Chief Larry Chikwe, for working together to support the vision of the executive Governor for Ahiazu people.

Commenting further on the situation in the LGA, the coordinator of APF in Okponkume, Mr. Chimezie Chukwu, described both leaders as result-oriented and compassionate leaders who mean well for the people.

Mr Chukwu dismissed insinuations spread by one Martin Igwe from Umuonyeka for accusing Chief Ugwu of inciting violence in his community.

APF further affirmed that the security situation in Ahiazu remains very calm and peaceful, adding that the relevant security agencies are fully briefed about the activities of Mr Igwe and have him on their radar.

According to APF, all security agencies are aware that there is no history of IPOB activities within the Ahiazu Mbaise area.

The group alleged that the reports are sponsored by one Imo-born resident in the United States with the help of some mischievous elements in the local government area.
