Senator Sunday Karimi (Kogi West) has applauded President Bola Tinubu for assenting to the North Central Development Commission Bill. He described the move as a significant step to establish a Federal Government interventionist agency to revitalise the deteriorating infrastructure in the affected states.
Karimi, who spoke with journalists in Lokoja, stressed that the commission would play a crucial role in addressing the infrastructural challenges, worsened by conflicts, involving Fulani herders and farmers, among other issues.
He commended the President’s foresight and goodwill in pursuing national development, assuring that stakeholders in the region would work collaboratively to ensure the commission fulfils its intended purpose.
EQUALLY, the Middle Belt Journalists Forum (MBJF) has commended the President over the development. It lauded the governors of the region for pushing the initiative to a logical conclusion, and the National Assembly for standing with Tinubu to ensure that the bill got a presidential assent.
In a release signed by the National President and National Secretary, Mark Mayah and Ladi Emmanuel, the group stated: “We immensely commend you for your role in the notable and pivotal moment in the ongoing efforts to address various pressing challenges, including infrastructure deficit, insecurity and economic downturns. The timely response of your government would no doubt make a lasting positive impact.
“The people of the North Central geopolitical zone have long hoped and awaited this crucial moment. It is therefore heartwarming to see that our yearnings and aspirations have been recognised by the Renewed Hope Agenda of your administration. To us, it is a soothing balm.”
