Anambra: Ex-NIWA DG, Moghalu, picks LP governorship form to unseat Soludo

The immediate past Director-General of the Nigerian Inland Waterways (NIWA), George Moghalu, has picked the governorship nomination form of the opposition Labour Party (LP) to unseat Governor Chukwuma Soludo in the forthcoming election in Anambra State.

Speaking Tuesday after he was presented with the nomination form by the party’s National Chairman, Julius Abure, he assured that he would not let the party down if he emerged as the party’s governorship candidate.

Moghalu, who was the pioneer National Auditor of the All Progressives Congress (APC), expressed confidence that he would enjoy the support of the party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, and other stakeholders of the party if he emerged as the party’s candidate.

According to him, I have confidence that the party leadership will provide us with a platform for contestation. Our ambition is not a war. The truth is that at the end of the day, one person will fly the flag of the Labour Party in Anambra State, and I believe, with confidence in God, that I will be that person.

He said, “Mr. Chairman, one assurance I will give you today is that I will not betray confidence, I will not let you down. I will go with Labour, and I will win with the Labour Party by God’s grace.

“For a lot of people who know me, they were actually surprised that I was able to change my political platform because I have always remained in one political platform since the inception of this political dispensation, but I had to leave to join the Labour Party.”

LP’s National Chairman, Julius Abure, expressed appreciation to Moghalu for having confidence in the party, adding that he could be rest assured of a level playing ground for all aspirants during the party’s governorship primary in Awka, Anambra State.
