Employee docked for alleged N.7m fraud

A 26 – year old Supermarket manager, Deborah Odewale, was on Thursday, docked in an Iyaganku Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly defrauding her employer of N789, 740.00

Odewale is standing trial on a two-count charge bordering on stealing and fraud.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The Prosecuting Counsel, Insp Sikiru Opaleye, told the court that the defendant sometimes in 2024, allegedly stole N789, 740.00 from her employer’s Isehri Supermarket, in Ologuneru area of Ibadan.

Opaleye said that the defendant allegedly tricked her boss and fraudulently obtained the money from the supermarket owner.

He said the offence contravened Section 383 and 421 of the Criminal Code Laws of Oyo 2000.

The Chief Magistrate, Mrs Olabisi Ogunkanmi granted the defendant bail in the sum of N300, 000 with two sureties in like sum.

Ogunkanmi adjourned the matter until June 17, for hearing.
