An America-based Nigerian, Ambassador Ebele Maduka, has accused the Delta State Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Mr. Darlington Nnamdi Ijeh for allegedly ‘grabbing’ his land he acquired from him since 2017.
Maduka said the plot of land is situate, and known as Plot 3C, Dalo Estate, by Asaba International Airport, along Asaba – Onitsha Express Way, Asaba in Oshimili South Local Council of Delta State, and registered at No 14, page 14, Volume C0238 at the lands registry, Asaba with Certificate of Occupancy No. DTSR 17398.
Reacting to the issue, the Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Mr. Darlington Nnamdi Ijeh, said: “I don’t have any problem with anybody regarding property or land. If there is any problem on the land, I believe the best thing is for him to come to me, and do the needful; make all the payments. But Instead of him to come and reconcile with the family, he is using people, Police, lawyers to reach me…”
At a press conference held in Asaba, Delta State, through his legal counsel, Chidel Onuora, Ambassador Maduka stated there was alleged adverse claim on the land he purchased from the commissioner with “an executed Deed of Conveyance.”
But he raised the alarm over an attempt to take over the land by different people, who are milling around the property claiming ownership, and as well preventing him from developing the land.
Maduka said he is very much disturbed about the unfolding event because “upon the readiness to commerce development of the land, we found that the gate at the premises and part of the fence were removed by the commissioner’s personal Assistant, one Okwy who admitted removing the gate on the flimsy reason that it was deteriorating”
He expressed sadness that the commissioner remained incommunicado since the disputations over the land, even without showing up to ground evidence thereby leaving him to the Wiles of persons Suspected to be land grabbers.
.
The commissioner explained further that the family has gotten a supreme Court judgment over the land, and now what did he want me to do when I have been asking him to come and regularize the said land for over five years.
