NCSDC arrests couple for cultism, other offences in Ekiti

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Ekiti State Command has paraded a couple in connection with alleged cultism, illegal drug dealings, cyber fraud and assault.
This is contained in a statement by the command Spokesman, SC Tolulope Afolabi to newsmen on Friday in Ado-Ekiti.
The suspects (names withheld) were arrested at Tosin Aluko park in Ado-Ekiti, when the duo were trying to run away from men of the Counter Terrorism Unit that was on patrol in the area.
According to the statement ,Tosin Aluko park has been a safe haven for illegal drug dealers and users and for other alleged heinous activities.

Afolabi said the couple allegedly resisted arrest when they were accosted by the Counter Terrorism Unit of the command.
Besides, he said the couple allegedly beat up the unit officers and tore their uniforms, adding that a short axe and a cutlass were recovered from the scene of the arrest.
The state Commandant, Mr Toma Enya, said although the suspects had their own rights within the law, which must not be trampled upon, the people should protect officers who were on lawful duty.
He assured that decisive action would be taken after preliminary investigations had been concluded.
