Nigerian Grammy-winning artist Burna Boy has become embroiled in a public controversy following allegations from Lagos-based socialite Sophia Egbueje, who claims he failed to honour a promise of gifting her a Lamborghini after an intimate encounter, Daddy Freeze weighs in.

The dispute came to light when leaked voice notes surfaced online, purportedly capturing a conversation between Sophia and a friend. In these recordings, Sophia alleges that Burna Boy assured her of purchasing a Lamborghini Urus, valued at over ₦500 million, in exchange for a one-night stand. She expressed frustration over the unfulfilled promise, stating that she eventually acquired the luxury SUV herself.

In reaction to these allegations, Burna Boy posted a freestyle video on his Instagram Story on February 28, 2025. In the video, he sang in Nigerian Pidgin: “I no buy Lambo, is that why you’re shouting? Where dem dey? I no dey see dem at all,” implying he was unperturbed by the claims and had no intention of addressing them further.

The incident prompted reactions from various public figures, including media personality Daddy Freeze. In a video shared on his Instagram page, Daddy Freeze advised men against offering monetary incentives to women for intimate relationships, advocating instead for genuine interactions.

Women, please stop selling your body for a Lamborghini. And please, men, una no get action? Una no fit talk to women? Which one is Lamborghini? Is it gold plated, is it diamond studded? Very soon, secondary school students will start asking for Iphone 16. It cannot be okay that a lady will ask for a car or house before a man will sleep with her. There is a name given to that and it’s not a good name,” he said.

He further commended Burna Boy, saying, “Burna Boy, correct guy, you try. Burst them.” Daddy Freeze also called on the government to address the issue of transactional relationships, emphasising that it should not be acceptable for individuals to expect material rewards in exchange for sexual favours.

The leaked voice notes and subsequent reactions have ignited discussions across social media platforms, with fans and observers weighing in on the controversy. The incident has also sparked debates about transactional relationships and the dynamics of celebrity interactions.

As of now, neither Burna Boy nor Sophia Egbueje has provided additional comments beyond the initial allegations and responses. The situation continues to be a topic of discussion among fans and the media, leading Burna Boy to be on the number one trending personality on X (Twitter) for two consecutive days.
